LAKOTA HUNKA - THE MAKING OF RELATIVES CEREMONY film: Preservation of sacred traditions

In its commitment to global cultures, their preservation, and evolutionary influences, One World In concert has been given the privilege to film, for the first time ever, the LAKOTA HUNKA CEREMONY or THE MAKING OF RELATIVES CEREMONY; to share Lakota wisdom and to awaken regard of the universal human.
“Humankind has not woven the web of life.
We are but one thread within it.
Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
All things are bound together.
All things connect.”
- Chief Seattle, 1854
The Lakota say Mitakuye Oyasin- All My relations-We are All Related. The Lakota practice of assuming Hunka relationship, one of their seven sacred Ceremonies, is the binding of ties of fidelity stronger than brotherhood, or family.

Lakota Elder Leroy C. Curley has invited Ora Abel-Russell to become his sister. The ceremony is an expression of oneness of action, and renewal. It is an invitation they extend to you, to experience and uphold, an invaluable, barrier dissolving, restorative process for the healing of deep wounds, and the mutual fulfillment of intention to dwell peacefully together.
There are Seven Essential Values of Lakota Life, they inspire desired traits, essential relationships, and the responsibilities necessary to maintain order and harmony in a material world.
-The Fifth Value, Wawokiye, is the value of Generosity and Helping: helping without expecting anything in return, giving and living from the Heart.
We can Talk about developing a better world or we can actualize our connectedness, and become deliberate activists in how we create the future. It’s time to Walk the walk, and not talk the talk. Join us, our celebration and declaration in THE HEALING OF AMERICA: A LAKOTA HUNKA CEREMONY, THE MAKING OF RELATIVES CEREMONY.

WISDOMKEEPERS
Wisdomkeepers are the guardians of nature's mysteries within the Lakota ceremonies and their practices, the medicine that is ruled by them, the songs that infuse our senses and our spiritual body, and the forces they produce that are identical to nature and its motivating power. These oral and entirely spontaneous transmissions, given by the three holy men, Joe Flying By, Dave Chief, and Leroy Curley, are a rare treasure of the highest generosity, directed for the greatest good. Their stories are told with complete equanimity, vividly conveying, without rancor or judgement, how Western civilization lacks connection to the natural world. Because passing on elders' wisdom in the oral tradition to the next generation is almost impossible, given the fact that the three important elements of the Lakota culture--the land, the people, and the language--are all but gone, the film's producer/director has provided a great service to those who have an interest in, and wish to learn from, ancient Native American teachings that have rarely been exposed.
